Random Lulz

Writer's Block: I'm off to see the wizard

Are there any movies that you absolutely loved when you were younger that you've watched again and found awful or ridiculous?

You know, I remember really liking "Splash" when it came out... Tom Hanks falls in love with Darryl hannah as a mermaid and I think the first dead fat guy was the buddy - I forget... Anyhoo, I rented it a year or two ago and man, was it boring! So slow.... just way too dated in its filmmaking techniques.

Saturday, April 10th, 2010: ABout 5 am, I found out online that there was a dress rehearsal in my old 'hood park for the Glee! Flash Mob, that had been holding rehearsals since February. Why didn't I know abut it sooner? I don't know. But - they are going to do a repeat in June, for Pride Week, but of course, the Drag Queen Army is totally gonna RULE that one. yay!

So the Flash Mob did three performances in Seattle on Saturday: Westlake Center, Pioneer Square, and Seattle Center. Here is video, although it is choppy video and fluid sound on mine, so not sure if was me or it it might not have been ul'ed properly... (?)

Westlake Center

Pioneer Square

Seattle Center

The Rehearsal ("A-team")

I love the random middle-aged white guys that each flash mob seems to have... different guys, too! Love this stuff!

Hey, hey, remember that episode of Buffy where Dawn accidentally calls a demon up to Earth that inflicts Broadway on the world? And everyone just randomly breaks out in song and dance? Man, that'd be cool.

Writer's Block: Talk to the animals

What would you do if your pet dog or cat suddenly started to talk to you, but nobody else could hear it? Would you assume you'd gone mad or simply be happy for the company? Would you try to convince your friends and family or would you be satisfied keeping it to yourself?

This would be awesome. Assuming my pets had something intelligent to say, and didn't just bug me in words for food and pets... Would they speak English? I think my cats might be mulitlingual... cat, English, and then Percy is Persian, so would he know Farsi? Or would he be Persian like I'm Italian - heritage only... Charlie came form the streets - I have a felling he might know Spanish.

Um, I would tell others, and if they believed me, fine, if not, whatever. If the pets were stubborn like Mr. Ed and only spoke to me, I'd be annoyed, but I'd get over it. Plus they'd be make great spies that way.

Music Meme

Tagged (indirectly) by capybara_cafe (because she is lazy):

Hey.... haven't been on here in a while... there is a lot going on, and a lot NOT happening yet. For now, I will do this meme.

The rules are, list seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to. I'm too lazy to upload the songs, so I'm linking the PVs.

1. "The High Road" - The Broken Bells

2. "Sweet Disposition" - Temper Trap

3. "Home"-Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros

These first three songs all seem related to me. I love each of them. They each have a slow build that gets bigger as the song progresses.

4. "The Resistance"
Like most MUSE songs, this one just gets inside me real good. Cathartic. Can't wait to see them again live - April 2nd.

Need I say anything? This song is damn fine and I cannot wait for the album. "RRRRRRRRASTICAAA!!!!"

6. "This Is War" - 30 Seconds To Mars
Another angsty cathartic release for the list. (Sorry this is an ad for a video game - apparently they don't have any other video for this song yet.)

7. "Fantasy bar" - Juliette Lewis
I can't put my finger on it, but I think this song and the other 6 all have something in common. Anyway, I love it, and it rocks and makes me move and feel good.

8. "Letters From The Sky" - Civil Twilight

Oh, man, I forgot this one - it's still so new... Loving it!! it's dark and foggy sounding and makes me feel weird. I really like it.

Um, I tag... whoever reads this! (Lazy.... tired now)

Jobs Update

Well, I let Lee (manager of Salon Dewi) know that I was not taking the job, because it was not enough money. Did I tell you how much? It was only $22.10 per hour. I cannot do that. And I'd have to foofy things like the new Raspberry Souffle Body treatment.... Not for me.

I worked Saturdsay and SUnday at Swoon... there is like no one in charge there, ever. Weird. Poorly run salon, but I get 40%, not 17%. So that's $32 per hour, much closer to what I want. It is a real no-brainer job. Show up, work on mostly gift certificate clients, and leave. I will get my first paycheck on Friday... And I'm still looking.

I got a call from Atlas Chiropractic on Capitol Hill tonight. She wanted some basic info, and will call me about scheduling an interview. And there's a few other places I'm waiting to interview for. But at least at Swoon, I'll make a little bit of money while I'm waiting for the perfect job.

On Sunday before work, I went to Simone's house. Simone is a drummer and drum instructor that I have been acquainted with for may years. She had invited me and five other women over to talk about clutter! She's written a book for publication on Clearing Clutter, and wants to talk about problems and solutions and feedback, etc. I have several areas in my home that are perennially messy, so I would love to get some motivation on straightening out the mess. It was actually kinda fun to chat on the subject. I had to leave right away at the end, to get to the spa to work.

I am really out of practice at regular studying! Tomorrow is my Japanese class, and I have not done the reading or the vocab list. Arrgh! I need to get back into doing a bit every day again. WTH, I am so not retaining anything this year...

Anyway, that's about it on the work front.

Arrived in Japan

Hey... Got here last night (It is almost 10 am Thursday now) about 8:45ish to my friend's house. I slept on the plane for abut four hours... watched two movies ("My Sister's Keeper" and "The hangover"), has two very tasty meals (always pre-order the Asian Vegetarian- yum!) and listened to my New Wave playlist oa few times. Got through customs quickly, and got on the 6:25 bus to Shiki.didn't get a Suica card or a cell phone, though... And why is it only 88 yen to the dollar? Wahahaha....

Got the kitty curled up on my lap... need real food and coffee... Also my allergies have been horrible since I got in the plane...wtf. Yay, snot-nosed American coming your way...

Started reading Denis Leary's "Why We Suck" this morning. Picked it up at the airport. Funny! Love him.

Met a very nice older Japanese lady on the plane. Met at the bathroom line... but she's all, "I'm sick. I have brain cancer. My husband has cancer, too. Prostate cancer." WH do yousay in response to that? Way to start a conversation... But she was sitting across the aisle next to us, so we chatted a little when I sat back down. They live in Colorado. Anyway...

Waiting for shit to open... LOL. I hope the weather stays nice like this!

Pretty good day!

Today was a perfect early Fall day ~ sunny and not-too-cold or windy!
